1. Each player chooses a colored piece and places it on the game board at number 1
2. The youngest player starts the game, then the game proceeds clockwise

If a player ends his turn at the top of the ladder, he moves up the ladder in the game plan to the top of the ladder. If a player ends a turn on a snake's head, he slides down the snake to the end of its tail.
