Product detailed description
Do you dare to open old police files and solve mysteries that remained unsolved due to a lack of evidence? Černé historky: Odložené případy features 50 convoluted, chilling, and 100% true criminal cases. Murders, unexplained deaths, and terrifying crimes—whose perpetrators often remained at large—will put your imagination and logical thinking to the test. In addition to solving the cases, you’ll also learn interesting facts about famous and lesser-known historical crimes.
The game is designed for a group of players divided into one storyteller and any number of guessers (it works great with just two players as well as with a larger group of friends or at parties). Given its focus on real-life murders and dark crimes, it’s the ideal choice for adults and older teens who love the true crime genre and enjoy tackling intricate detective puzzles.
- 50 Real Crimes: All stories are 100% true and based on actual police investigations.
- Chilling Atmosphere: Crimes closed due to lack of evidence, where the real culprit may still be evading justice.
- Social Deduction with No Limit on the Number of Players: One narrator and any number of detectives—guessers.
- Two Game Modes: A cooperative basic variant and a competitive mode for advanced players using skull tokens.
- Compact packaging: Ideal for travel, parties, and get-togethers with friends.
At the start, you choose one player to take on the role of storyteller for that case. Only that player takes the top card from the deck and reads the entire solution on the back, keeping it to themselves. Then, they read aloud the brief prompt from the front of the card to everyone else and ask the key question: “How did this happen?” All other players (guessers) know only this brief final situation, and their task is to uncover how the entire story actually unfolded.
The guessers take turns asking the storyteller any questions they like, but the questions must be answerable with only YES or NO. The storyteller must ensure the questions are phrased correctly—if a question offers two options (e.g., “Was that person tall or short?”), they must ask the guesser to rephrase the question. If a question is based on a false assumption or would lead the guessers down a dead end unrelated to the case, it is up to the storyteller to decide whether to kindly point this out or let them continue guessing. There is one uncompromising rule: the storyteller is always right, and the solution on the card is the only correct one.
The rules also include an advanced mode where the guessers do not cooperate but compete against each other over three rounds (three cards). The storyteller prepares 15 skull tokens (5 for each round) and awards them to players who ask a particularly clever question that advances the investigation. A round ends when the mystery is solved or when all five skull tokens have been used up. The player who collects the most skull tokens over the course of the three rounds becomes a professional investigator and wins the game.
