Product detailed description
Familiar stories take on new meaning on the cards: mysterious details, shimmering reflections, and unexpected connections let you retell Disney and Pixar adventures in a new way every time.
This is an expansion only. To play it, you must own either Dixit or Dixit Disney.
Dixit Signature: Záhady a dobrodružství will be especially appreciated by players who love Dixit Disney and want to expand its visual world with additional stories, settings, and characters. However, you can also use the new cards with the classic base game Dixit, so they’ll find a place in the collection of any storyteller who already knows the existing illustrations almost by heart.
The expansion is designed for 3 to 8 players ages 8 and up. When combining it with Dixit Disney, follow the 3-to-6-player range specified for that base game. You should set aside about 30 minutes per game; adding the new cards does not change the game’s length or difficulty.
The smaller set of 21 cards is also suitable for families who want to expand their collection gradually. Familiar movie themes can make it easier for children to come up with their first associations, while adults will find plenty of subtle clues in the illustrations for ambiguous hints.
Dixit Signature: Záhady a dobrodružství combines Dixit’s visual storytelling with adventurous and mysterious moments from Disney and Pixar films. Each of the 21 large-format cards reinterprets familiar motifs in a new way, so that it is not merely a reference to a specific movie, but an open-ended image that you can describe with a word, a sentence, a quote, a sound, or a personal memory.
The gameplay remains unchanged. The storyteller chooses one card and gives a clue; the other players secretly add an illustration from their hand to it, and after shuffling, everyone tries to identify the storyteller’s original card. A good clue should lead someone in the right direction, but at the same time, it must not be so obvious that everyone votes correctly.
The new illustrations can be shuffled into the cards from the base game, combined with other expansions, or used to create a themed deck for a few rounds. The glossy effect highlights selected parts of the images, so even a detail you overlooked in a previous game can lead to a new association. The expansion doesn’t add a separate game mode or new mechanics—its main value lies in the additional storytelling possibilities.
The set most naturally complements the base game Dixit Disney, whose 84 cards are based on Disney and Pixar films. You can mix both collections together and let familiar stories and entirely personal interpretations of their themes unfold side by side.
- You’ll expand Dixit Disney with 21 new cards that preserve its cinematic atmosphere while giving familiar motifs plenty of room for your own clues and interpretations.
- You’ll breathe new life into games with players who already know the original set well, as the new images will disrupt established associations and force you to look for different connections between characters, places, emotions, and events.
- You’ll use the glossy effect not only as a visual element but also as a source of ideas—a highlighted detail can change the meaning of the entire illustration or divert your fellow players’ attention in an unexpected direction.
- You’ll provide both children and adults with a shared theme that they can approach in different ways: some will recall a specific movie scene, while others will think of a mood, a personal experience, or a pun.
- The cards easily combine with classic Dixit, Dixit Disney, and other sets, so you don’t have to change the rules or learn new mechanics—you can incorporate them right into your next game.
- You’ll get a compact collectible expansion at an affordable price, perfect as a small gift for fans of Disney, Pixar, and imagination-based visual games.
- You’ll enable every group of players to create their own stories from the same illustrations, because the meaning of the cards changes depending on the storyteller, the chosen clue, and the players’ shared memories.
Dixit Signature: Záhady a dobrodužství was created as part of the smaller themed Dixit Signature sets, and its original publisher is the French studio Libellud.
The expansion is based on the game system created by French child psychiatrist, musician, and game designer Jean-Louis Roubira. The original Dixit was released by Libellud in December 2008, featuring illustrations by French illustrator Marie Cardouat. The game went on to win the 2009 As d’Or award and the 2010 German Spiel des Jahres award.
The standalone game Dixit Disney was released in 2023. Its 84 cards, each of which references a different Disney or Pixar film, were created by German illustrator Natalie Dombois. Dixit Signature: Mysteries and Adventures follows on thematically from this edition but allows for a different artistic approach.
The illustrator for Dixit Signature: Záhady a dobrodružství is John Stone, a conceptual artist and illustrator based in China and founder of Fishart Studio. In his work, he focuses primarily on expansive environments, shifts in light, the use of color, and visual compositions that can hint at a much broader story with a single scene.
His portfolio includes illustrations and art designs associated with game worlds such as League of Legends: Wild Rift, Honor of Kings, and Valorant. He often depicts quiet corners, distant landscapes, monumental structures, and characters standing before the unknown. Such scenes fit naturally into the world of Dixit, as they do not offer players a single “correct” interpretation.
For the 21 cards in this expansion, John Stone combined his flair for light and atmosphere with motifs from Disney and Pixar adventure films. As a result, these familiar stories don’t come across as mere movie stills: each illustration contains a mood, subtle hints, and visual cues from which you can piece together your own clues. Additionally, a glossy finish highlights selected details and reinforces the impression that the card’s meaning might shift upon a second glance.
