Junji Ito
Junji Ito (v českém přepisu Džundži Itó) je jedním z nejznámějších autorů současné hororové mangy, v podstatě se stal jejím synonymem.
V jeho práci najdeme prvky různých subžánrů hororů, lovercraftovského, kosmického hororu či body hororu. Říká se, že kreslit začal ve 4 letech, kreslení se jako koníčku věnoval i vedle práce zubního technika a hledal balanc, jak tvoru mangy s prací skloubit. Jak to dopadlo, všichni víme. V roce 1987 poslal krátký příběh do časopisu Gekkan Halloween a obdržel za něj prestižní ocenění. Dílo vycházelo 13 let... a dnes jej známe jako Tomie.
Vedle japonských autorů (např. Edogawa Ranpo, Kazuo Umezu nebo Shigeru Mizuki) se inspiruje právě zmíněným světem H. P. Lovercrafta, nechal se slyšet, že má rád práci také Guillerma del Tora (s ním měl ostatně spolupracovat na zrušené videohře Silent Hills), H. R. Gigera a Salvadora Dalího.
