This game is an expansion only. To play it, you must own Dixit Disney or another base game from the Dixit series.

Dixit Signature: Padouši will be especially appreciated by players who enjoy Dixit Disney and want to expand its visual world with additional adversaries, stories, and situations. However, you can also use the new cards with the classic base game Dixit, so they’ll find a place in the collection of any storyteller who already knows the existing illustrations almost by heart.

The expansion is designed for 3 to 8 players ages 8 and up. You should set aside about 30 minutes per game. The set does not change the rules of the game, so you can easily incorporate it into family game nights or regular get-togethers with friends without any additional preparation.

Dixit Signature: Padouši contains 21 large-format cards with a glossy finish. Their illustrations depict villains from the worlds of Disney and Pixar in images that leave plenty of room for your own interpretation. You can look for a thirst for power, envy, revenge, a trap, vanity, and even the moment when a carefully crafted plan unexpectedly begins to fall apart.

The cards are thematically linked to the standalone game Dixit Disney, and you can easily shuffle them in among its illustrations. They’re also compatible with the classic base game Dixit and other sets in this game series.

The gameplay remains unchanged. The storyteller chooses one card and gives a clue in the form of a word, sentence, quote, sound, or short story. The other players add a picture from their hand that they think matches the clue. All selected cards are shuffled, and the players then vote on which one belonged to the storyteller.

The well-known traits of each villain can help you when creating clues, but they can also easily lead others down the wrong path. One player might recall a specific movie scene, while another focuses on colors, a character’s expression, or an emotion hidden in the image.

The illustrations for all 21 cards were created by American illustrator James Rey Sanchez, who grew up in Santa Maria, California. He studied visual development at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he also focused on character design and children’s book illustration. He gained his first professional experience in the animation field while working with ClassDojo, and later began to focus primarily on book illustration.

His illustrations feature clean shapes, striking silhouettes, and colors influenced by his Mexican heritage. Sanchez has created children’s books, picture stories, and titles related to the Disney and Marvel universes. For *Dixit Signature: Villains*, he created new scenes featuring well-known antagonists, preserving their characteristic traits while simultaneously placing them within images open to various interpretations and playful associations.

Dixit Signature: Mysteries and Adventures was created as part of the smaller thematic Dixit Signature sets, and its original publisher is the French studio Libellud.

The expansion is based on the game system created by French child psychiatrist, musician, and game designer Jean-Louis Roubira. The original Dixit was published by Libellud in December 2008, featuring illustrations by French illustrator Marie Cardouat. The game subsequently won the 2009 As d’Or award and the 2010 German Spiel des Jahres award.

The standalone game Dixit Disney was released in 2023. Its 84 cards, each of which references a different Disney or Pixar film, were created by German illustrator Natalie Dombois. Dixit Signature: Villains follows the same theme as this edition but allows for a different artistic approach.
