Product detailed description
In the dark depths of the Age of Darkness, where steel clashes with demonic flesh and every step sounds like a war drum, the Doom Slayer enters an arena that forgives no mistakes. The catacombs of the Old World are transformed into a battlefield where chivalric brutality mixes with hellish fury. DOOM: The Dark Ages – Arena Board Game transports players to a brutal fantasy version of the DOOM universe, where tactics, aggression, and relentless pressure become the only path to survival.
The game is fast-paced, competitive, and extremely straightforward, designed as “heavy metal chess”—a strategic battle between players where every move has an immediate impact. One player takes on the role of the Doom Slayer, while the other (or up to three additional players) commands the demonic hordes. Both opponents clash on a hex-based arena that transforms into a bloody battlefield littered with gibs as the game progresses.
The game takes place over three rounds, with each subsequent round increasing the intensity and pressure on the players. The mechanics are built around a tempo-based system that rewards aggression and punishes hesitation—the more a player pushes forward, the more powerful combos and actions they can trigger. Cautious play, on the other hand, hands the initiative over to the opponent.
Both editions (DOOM 1993 and DOOM: The Dark Ages) use the same rule system, but differ in their selection of demons, weapons, and expansions. The Dark Ages features iconic creatures from the latest DOOM title, including the Atlans, the Serrat dragon, and other massive enemies.
