    Gamebook Elfí les: Stíny nad Kazašárem is set in the mystical world of the elves, specifically in the kingdom of Cas'Ashar, located in Elfenwald, an enchanted forest full of danger and beauty. The main character is an elf who learns magic from the mage Syldak in order to confront the dark forces that threaten his home.

    Elfenwald presents elves in a magical setting with similar traits to Tolkien's elves (e.g. longevity, high ethics, fighting dark forces), but the style and setting of the story are more in the vein of classic 1980s fantasy gamebooks such as the Fighting Fantasy series or Lone Wolf.

    Here, elves fight against dark lords and their monstrous armies, evoking the struggle between good and evil that is common in fantasy literature, including Tolkien's world. The main character, however, is not a Tolkien-type elf, but rather a hero who faces a series of challenges and pitfalls in various adventures, much like the characters in the aforementioned gamebooks.
