Cthulhu:Temné časy (Dark Providence) is a competitive game in which 1 to 5 players secretly take on the roles of investigators, cultists, or renegades on one of two sides in a battle for the fate of a land on the brink of destruction. Each player’s allegiance determines how they score points at the end of the game, but only one player can win. Players strive to keep their faction a secret while pushing the limits of their agents’ sanity, performing various actions, luring other players’ hired agents to their side or murdering them, gaining additional aid from powerful Mythos cards, preventing other players from acquiring cards, and closing and opening gates to earn victory points. At the end, the player with the fewest victory points is eliminated from the game, along with all players who share their faction. However, of the remaining players, only the one with the most victory points wins! Cthulhu:Temné časy is an excellent game for fans of the Lovecraftian universe!

Cthulhu: Temné časy is a board game set in H.P. Lovecraft’s horror universe, specifically the world of the game Cthulhu: Death May Die.

In it, players take on the roles of cultists or investigators, though their roles remain secret throughout the game.

Your role determines how you earn victory points, but this is not a cooperative game—the player with the most points wins.

You can earn points through various actions, from gaining influence in cities and killing other players’ agents to closing gates.

Cthulhu: Temné časy is a competitive game in which 1 to 5 players secretly take on the roles of investigators, cultists, or renegades on one of two sides in a battle for the fate of a land on the brink of destruction. Each player’s faction determines how they score points at the end of the game, but only one player can win. During the game, players use influence dice to acquire network cards, control cities, and obtain mythos cards. Each newly acquired network card enhances the players’ decks or a player’s deck, thereby increasing the resources and actions they can perform during their turn. Players strive to keep their affiliation secret while pushing the limits of their agents’ sanity, performing various actions, luring other players’ hired agents to their side or assassinating them, gaining additional aid from powerful myth cards, preventing other players from acquiring cards, and closing and opening gates to earn victory points. At the end, the player with the fewest victory points (VP) is eliminated from the game along with all players who share their affiliation, and of the remaining players, only the one with the most VP wins.

The Great Depression is coming to America, bringing ruin. It is the ideal time to sow discord and unrest in a place that would otherwise become a pillar of modern civilization. If there is one thing one can rely on in humanity, it is selfishness. Greed is omnipresent, and the Elder Ones use it as a tool to pit brother against brother and turn friends into enemies. Offer a man the chance to rise above others, and he won’t care that he’s trampling on others’ heads on his way up. And in these dark times, the entire eastern part of the state is ripe for another revolution. This world is full of fickle loyalties and dark deeds, and a pernicious affinity for abominable powers poses a constant threat in all the great cities here. A friend who has your back may take advantage of that and stab you in the back. Yet all is not lost. If humanity were completely powerless, the Ancients would have no reason to hide. However, they are all too aware of the danger posed by a united humanity, and they need no reminder that even death can die.
