The game includes fictional files and materials related to a decades-old murder. The player or players work cooperatively to study the materials, looking for clues in an attempt to solve the case. When they think they have the correct solution, the players go to the publisher's website, and answer some questions to determine how well they did.

The World Expansion, the one all backers of this campaign are receiving for free with their pledge, is a special kind of expansion: it is the only one that can be mixed both with the core game and any other expansion (whereas you can only play with 1 thematic expansion at a time).
