The board game Letokruhy takes you into the world of modern forestry, where you become a manager of European forests. Your goal will not only be to harvest wood, but above all to manage sustainably so that the forest will thrive for future generations. The game uniquely combines entertainment with expert knowledge – the rules are enriched with texts by experts from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, which will introduce you to the ecological importance of trees and modern wood processing.

In the role of foresters and sawmill owners, you will control two key characters: the harvester, who takes care of logging and reforestation directly in the field, and the sawmill manager, who ensures the processing of harvested raw materials and the fulfillment of orders. You will have to strategically plan every step – from selecting the right type of wood (spruce, pine, oak, beech, or birch) to drying and planing it, to building forest roads, meanders, and reservoirs that change the game plan and help combat climate change.

The game offers high variability thanks to characters with special abilities (e.g., drone operator or logistics manager) and several game modes. A simplified tutorial version is available for beginners, while experienced players will appreciate the complex strategic options in the advanced game.

There is also a sophisticated solo mode in which you can test your strength against a virtual opponent.
