Product detailed description
Nature refines Evolution with insights gained by the development team over the past decade. Nature has been playtested thousands of times to create a new game that is easier to teach, more forgiving, better balanced, and expandable.
Nature is a strategy board game for 1-6 players that stands on the shoulders of the blockbuster Evolution.
In Nature, species must adapt to a changing environment as they look for food and protect themselves from predators. Give your species traits like Tusked to help find food, Fast to outrun predators, or Clawed to hunt other species. Your goal is to grow your species’ population so they can survive and thrive!
The innovation of Nature is a modular game system that allows you to create and explore a unique ecosystem each time you play. There is no limit to the number of modules you can add. You can play Nature on its own, or combine modules to create over 20 unique ecosystems.
Welcome to Nature, where every game brings new worlds to explore!
The goal of Nature is to adapt your species in an ever-changing ecosystem where food is scarce and predators lurk. You receive points for growing and sustaining a flourishing population. To grow your population, your species must adapt to the changing environment amidst two threats: starvation and predation.
A game of Nature takes 4 rounds, or 5 when you play with modules. Each round, players draw a hand of cards and gain a new species, bringing new life and opportunity into the ecosystem. Rounds have 2 main phases: Adapting and Feeding.
During the Adapting Phase, you can discard a card to increase your species’ body size or population, or you can play a card as a trait to change its behavior.
Traits help your species stay safe and find food. Adapt species with traits like Fast to evade predators, Opportunistic to take advantage of a food rich environment, or Clawed to improve a predator's ability to hunt other species.
During the Feeding Phase, all species compete for a limited amount of food in the ecosystem. A species may forage for plant food at the watering hole, or evolve into a predator and hunt other species to eat.
Feeding species' population is key to your success, and you'll need to react to the changing environment to gain the food they need.
Despite your best efforts, your species might lose a few population through starvation, or even become extinct. This is the way of the natural world!
However, in Nature, the population, body size, and traits lost are returned to you, so you can create a stronger species in the next round.
Score points for feeding your species’ population and keeping them alive. Score the most points to win!
Nature can be expanded with five game-changing modules: Flight, Jurassic, Natural Disasters, Arctic Tundra and Amazon Rainforest.
Modules are small expansions that can be combined to dramatically change the gameplay. Flight, Jurassic, Arctic Tundra, and Amazon Rainforest have trait cards that provide new ways to adapt your species, while Natural Disasters comes with an event deck that creates scenarios that effect all players.
Adding module(s) to Nature is easy. Place the module deck(s) next to the Nature deck. When a player needs to draw cards, they can draw from any of the available decks.
Expand the Nature ecosystem by choosing the module that suits your playstyle. Add one module at a time, or mix and match modules to create over 20 different ecosystems with endless replayability!
Big Box pledges and higher will receive Nature and all 5 modules, stored in one box with a custom insert.
