Superclub Rivals is a card game for anyone who wants to experience the excitement of real soccer matches and have a club in their hands. It is ideal for 2 players who like to immerse themselves in tactical battles and think several moves ahead. Thanks to its fast pace, it will be appreciated by both enthusiastic soccer fans and players looking for a clever game for two. You should set aside about 30 minutes for one game, making it the perfect choice for an afternoon duel or an evening rematch. In Superclub Rivals, you get your hands on an entire soccer club – from the goalkeeper to the last substitute. Each season, you go through a break period where you decide on investments, transfers, training, and scouting. Your goal is to build a team that can dominate the city derby and secure victory in decisive matches. The game mechanics cleverly combine player drafts, auctions, resource management, and, of course, tactical battles on the field.

The matches themselves are played in three clashes – midfield against midfield, attack against defense, and vice versa. Players compare the values of their cards, and the result can also be influenced by dice rolls, which add a touch of unpredictability to the matches. The game faithfully simulates the atmosphere of real soccer, where even the best-prepared team can face unexpected twists and turns. But winning a match isn't just about luck – the right use of chemistry between players, motivation, and home field advantage play a crucial role.

Each season offers new challenges. In the summer, you focus on stadium revenue, investments, and the transfer window, while in the winter, you focus on training and scouting for talent. You can improve players, send them on loan, or risk training with dice. More experienced managers can also take advantage of club identity and a broader squad, which adds further strategic depth to the game. The whole game culminates in the Super Cup final – if it's a tie, a nerve-wracking penalty shootout will decide the winner.

Superclub Rivals follows on from the successful Superclub series of games from Norwegian publisher Superclub, which specializes in soccer management games. The original Superclub game was released in 2020 and, thanks to its huge popularity, has gradually expanded to include a number of add-ons and special editions. Rivals is a new standalone game for two players, which was released in 2023.

A team of Norwegian authors contributed to the game, with Hans Ove Morken, Norwegian game designer and founder of Superclub studio, as the main figure behind the project. The visual design was created by Kurt Aust, a Norwegian illustrator whose dynamic style gave the game an authentic soccer atmosphere.
