A card game where you ruin everyone’s day with annoying magic.

Exploding Kittens is an extremely strategic version of Russian roulette (only with kittens). Players draw cards until someone draws an Exploding Kitten, explodes, dies, and is eliminated from the game. Unless that player has a Defuse card, which allows them to defuse the kitten. The purpose of all the other cards in the deck is to help players stay out of the way of Exploding Kittens (or to set them up for others).

Funny illustrations with even funnier text will entertain you and fully immerse you in a game you’ll want to play over and over again. Every card is unique.

The rules are very simple and can be explained in just a few seconds.

This edition introduces a new twist: The game IMPROVES on its own after every playthrough. That’s because it includes secret envelopes.

The envelopes are filled with new magic cards that become part of your game as soon as you open them. Some of them contain spells and curses—entirely new types of cards.

Product detailed description

Výbušná koťátka: Kočičí kletba (Exploding Kittens: Curse You!) transforms the familiar battle for survival with spells, curses, and secret envelopes. Every new game can bring new cards and rules, so you never know what the kittens will do to you next.

Výbušná koťátka: Kočičí kletba is a standalone game designed for anyone who enjoys fast-paced card battles, mischievous humor, and the chance to elegantly thwart their teammates’ plans. 2–5 players aged 7 and up can sit down at the table, and you should set aside approximately 15 minutes for each game. You’ll grasp the basic principles in just a few moments, so children, parents, and casual players can jump right in without a long explanation. More experienced fans of Exploding Kittens, on the other hand, will find the familiar system enhanced with surprises that gradually change the game’s possibilities. The Kočičí kletba is therefore perfect for both a family night and a quick game with friends, where no one will take your underhanded moves too personally. At least, let’s hope so.

The core gameplay remains true to the original Exploding Kittens. Exploding Kittens are hidden in the draw pile, and you need to avoid them while trying to pass their explosive company on to others. During your turn, you can play any number of cards, use their abilities, and finally draw one card. If you draw an Exploding Kitten and don’t have a Defuse card in hand, your feline career ends in flames. The last player left alive wins.

It’s the other cards that allow you to change your seemingly inevitable fate. You can peek at the top cards of the draw pile, reorder them, shuffle the deck, skip your turn, attack an opponent, or take a card from them. The NENE card, on the other hand, can cancel an action just played, which can set off a wonderfully nonsensical chain of mutual interference. It’s therefore important to manage the cards in your hand and judge the right moment to use them. The fewer cards left in the deck, the greater the risk that the next draw will end in an explosion.

However, Kočičí kletba adds one key concept: the game gradually transforms over the course of subsequent plays. Inside the box, you’ll find seven secret envelopes, and you may open the first one after completing the introductory game. Inside, you’ll find a new card and stickers that you use to gradually complete the Battle Manual. You must not open the other envelopes at will; the game itself will tell you when the time is right. New magic cards—including Spells and Curses—are thus gradually added to the deck, and what you considered to be the complete rules during the first game will begin to change.

  • A familiar concept takes on a new dimension—you’re still trying not to explode, but the secret envelopes gradually change the possibilities and rules for future games.
  • The game doesn’t reveal everything right away—you uncover new cards gradually, so the box hides surprises you have no idea about during your first game.
  • Every draw creates tension—you know that an Explosive Kitten is waiting somewhere in the deck, but you have no idea if it’s lurking for you right now.
  • You can really give your opponents a hard time—attacks, disrupting actions, stealing cards, or manipulating the deck offer plenty of ways to ruin their carefully laid plans.
  • New magic changes established strategies—Spells and Curses expand on familiar mechanics and force you to react to situations that didn’t arise in the original game.
  • You can explain the rules in just a few minutes—the simple foundation lets you quickly start your first game even with a group that hasn’t played Exploding Kittens before.
  • The short playtime encourages a rematch—a fifteen-minute game rarely ends after just one round, especially when another secret envelope awaits you.
  • Humor remains an important part of the game—absurd illustrations, card names, and their effects give every game that typically zany feline atmosphere.
  • Works for both newcomers and experienced players—beginners get an accessible standalone game, while series veterans can discover new tactical possibilities.
  • The game truly evolves—new cards become a permanent part of the deck, so you’ll gradually build your own complete version of The Cat’s Curse.

The original publisher is the American company Exploding Kittens, which, for the first time in this version, is making significant use of secret envelopes to gradually unlock new content. The game remains a fully-fledged standalone version, and you don’t need the original Exploding Kittens to play.

The roots of the entire series date back to 2015. Behind the original Exploding Kittens are American game designer Elan Lee, American comic book writer and illustrator Matthew Inman, and Shane Small. Matthew Inman is also the creator of the original game’s distinctive art style and the creator of the webcomic The Oatmeal. It was precisely this combination of simple gameplay and absurd cat humor that laid the foundation upon which the series continues to build today.
